Built on the backdrops of the village community, Dingi follows a trail of incidents centering on the protagonist, her beloved Sanath and the master of the mansion known to us as Ralahamy.

According to author Vatthage, the story had taken shape from childhood. He states that one of the characters had evolved through many decades and had finally flown out through his pen as the story of Dingi came to light.

Vatthage had worked as an English teacher at Sasvathi Pirivena in Balagalla and several Government schools. He is renowned for his novel Anjelika and is also a gifted lyricist. A is involved in social activities and is an all island Justice of Peace.
