No major incidents - PAFFREL

An atmosphere for a free and fair Provincial Council Election could be seen today when compared with other Provincial Council Elections, said PAFFREL Chairman Kingsley Rodrigo.

Rodrigo said there were no major incidents out of a total of 64 incidents during the run up to the polls. Pre-election period was relatively peaceful and this is a satisfactory development under any standard.

He was speaking at a media conference organized yesterday to explain the roll to be played by PAFFREL at today's election.

Rodrigo said a National Elections Observations Coordination Centre (NEOCC) has been established and implemented by PAFFREL.

The Centre, which will operate 24 hours a day, and function under the leadership of the National Coordinator who is in charge of activities pertaining to elections observation.
