Drop in tea production

The Sri Lanka Tea Board said the total reported production of tea in Sri Lanka during December 2008, amounted to 19,190,177 kg as against 29,463,876 kg, produced during the corresponding month in 2007, a decrease of 10,273,699 kg or 34.9 per cent.

The total tea production during the period January to December 2008 amounted to 318,471,333 kg, as against 305,216,902 kg, produced during the corresponding period of 2007, an increase of 13,254,431 kg or 4.3 per cent.
