Vocational and Technical Training Minister Piyasena Gamage unveils the new name board of the Technical College at Aruppola, Kandy that has been upgraded as a College of Technology. Kandy’s Mayor L. B. Aluvihare, Director General, Technical Education Department Dr. H. L. Obeysekara and Principal H. P. Swarnapala were also present on the occasion.

Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma provided 23 new buses to the Sri Lanka Transport Boards’ Regional Offices in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya recently. Here, Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa cuts the ribbon of one of the new buses provided to the Yatinuwara Depot. Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma, Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhana and former Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake are also in the picture.

Announcing a series of measures to protect voter franchise and ensure a free and fair election at tomorrow’s Central and Northwestern provincial council polls, Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka warned that in case of reported violence or malpractices he would take action to nullify results in the affected polling stations, if any.
