British HC visits SEUSL

British High Commissioner Dr. Peter Hayes who was on a tour to the East recently visited South Eastern University of Sri Lanka to ascertain the prevailing situation of the University in regards to the physical development and academic improvements.

The British High Commissioner was accompanied by his Deputy Program Manager Sweta Velpillay and Political and Press Officer Niruban Muttiah. On arrival at the Oluvil campus of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. A. G. Hussain Ismail and introduced to the Deans of the various faculties.

Dr. Hayes held lively and cordial discussions with the Vice Chancellor Dr. Hussain Ismail and the Registrar M. F. Hibathul Careem and thereafter Deans of the Faculties of Arts and Culture, Commerce and Management, Islamic and Arabic Studies and Applied Sciences and the Heads of Departments.

The Deans provided him a comprehensive picture of the academic programs in their respective faculties that are presently followed. The matters discussed were centered on physical developments that are in progress and to be carried out in university and academic programs were discussed at length.

The High Commissioner also looked at the master plan of the various projects envisaged for the university under Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Project and ARUP funds. The High Commissioner also met the University’s Student Union President M. A. Askar and held discussions separately.
