HSBC launches Visa Debit Cards
HSBC, in collaboration with Visa, launched the first HSBC Visa Debit
Card in Sri Lanka, a media release said.
The launch delivers on the agreement signed by both parties late last
year to offer HSBC Visa Debit Cards in several territories across the
Asia Pacific region.
Sri Lanka is the first among twelve countries and territories to
launch a new HSBC Visa Debit Card in the region.
Three new HSBC Visa Debit Cards were introduced. These included the
HSBC Visa Classic Debit Card and Visa Platinum Debit Cards for HSBC
Premier and HSBC PowerVantage accountholders. The new HSBC Visa Debit
Cards provide customers with direct access to their own funds to make
purchases and payments in Sri Lanka and overseas, subject to daily
limits.
Head of Cards and Insurance at HSBC James Rebert said, “We are
delighted to launch this product in association with Visa. The
introduction of HSBC’s Visa Debit Card underscores the Bank’s continued
leadership in cards issuance. Through the Visa Debit Card, HSBC
customers can enjoy the convenience of using their own funds to pay for
purchases at any direct channel, as well as the merchant point of sale”.
Brian McGrory, Regional Head, Debit Products at Visa said, “We are
excited that HSBC will kick off our regional agreement with the issue of
its first HSBC Visa Debit Card in Sri Lanka. Our collaboration builds on
our two global brands and payment expertise and will help HSBC provide
an enhanced level of service and access to its customers.”
