President condemns

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Government yesterday condemned in the strongest possible terms the suicide bomb attack by the LTTE in Dharmapuram killing civilians who were waiting to enter the cleared areas, said Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa.

He said this attack was carried out against the Internally Displaced Persons who have fled from areas of Mullativu while taking refuge in one of the centers. This brutal attack has claimed the lives of civilians, as well as causing serious damages to infrastructure and also injuries to civilian bystanders.

“The Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa has set up Refugee welfare centers for these IDPs to provide facilities during this critical time .Steps have already been taken to accommodate 30.000 people who are currently displaced, MP Basil Rajapaksa said. .

He pointed out that the Government will never succumb to the fascist designs of the LTTE, and is now more resolved and committed as never before to eliminate terrorism from every part of the country. The people of Sri Lanka stand firmly behind the Security Forces in their endeavour to eradicate terrorism for the good of this nation.

The International community has now realised the true nature of the LTTE, which has once again proved it’s absolute contempt and disrespect for democracy, pluralism and civilised values of humanity its self. This is an attack against humanity he emphasized .

“It is hoped that the international community would take into account the mindset of the LTTE and act with responsibility and support the efforts of the Government to end the ethnic crisis that has gone on for decades without a firm resolution.

The Government and President Mahinda Rajapaksa extend their heartfelt sympathies to the families of bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this terrorist outrage and wish for speedy recovery of injured civilians, Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa said.
