Widespread condemnation of LTTE terror

A wide section of politicians and religious leaders vehemently
condemned the LTTE’s brutal suicide attack at an IDP rescue centre,
North of Visuamadu yesterday killing 28 civilians and injuring more than
60 others.
Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene told the Daily News this
brutal LTTE suicide attack has clearly shown to the entire world who
kills innocent civilians. The intention of the LTTE is to further
continue their ruthless terrorist activities rather than assist the
civilians.
” We urge the international community to exert pressure on the LTTE
to immediately release the innocent civilians who have been trapped by
them.” Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Minister
Maithripala Sirisena condemning the LTTE suicide bomb attack in
Sugandirapuram, north of Visuamadu yesterday said that the LTTE is
utterly desperate in the face of its defeat at this juncture and that is
why they engaged in brutal attacks like this.
The suicide attack has caused the deaths and injuries of civilians
while damaging infrastructure in the area. “They are breathing their
last and have no way to escape,” he said. The LTTE has again shown their
cruelty to the world through these activities but it can never interrupt
the Government’s attempt in eradicating terrorism.
President of Sri Lanka Deshabimani Peramuna Ven.Elle Gunawansa Thera
said the LTTE through this cowardly attack showed it’s brutality to the
entire world. The people of the entire world who respect humanity should
stand against this brutality of the LTTE.
The Thera questioned why certain international organisations which
always make their allegations against the Government do not speak about
LTTE’s brutality.
Earlier the LTTE terrorists used a 13 year old child suicide bomber
against the troops in Chalai on February 04. The LTTE through various
brutal attacks is attempting to instill fear among the people who are
returning to the Government controlled areas from the non-liberated
areas by completely rejecting the LTTE.
Certain western countries raise a big voice when even a trivial
mistake was made by the Government. But why can’t they force the LTTE to
immediately stop their ruthless terrorist activities.
This country should be safeguarded and handed over to the next
generation. Therefore, all the citizens of this country concerned over
the fate of innocent civilians entrapped in these non-liberated areas
should stand against these atrocities committed by the LTTE. |
