Exploiting the turbulence - The way forward

Turbulence is the exact time when business leadership changes hands in almost all industries across the globe and enterprising business leaders should exploit the current turbulence, said Chairman/ Managing Director of Somaratna Consultants K.C. Somaratna.

He was addressing the media about the one-day seminar he intends to conduct on February 25.

He quoted several instances the business leaders of to-day experience turbulence in everyday life and explained how these leaders are guided through the turbulent patches by personnel, who have not only studied turbulence but also identified ways of managing the passage through turbulence.

Talking about how winning marathoners take the lead during the most difficult patches of terrain, he emphasized the opportunities offered by the current turbulence to those leaders who are equipped and geared for the task.

He has drawn analogies from engineering science in the field of turbulence in fluid flow, and developed a formula which could be used to predict the onset of economic turbulence. The formula could be used both on a macro-economic scale and the micro economic scale and would prove useful to monitor trends towards turbulence and guide you in preventing the turbulence.

He has also developed a toolkit which will enable organizations to exploit the turbulence and take leadership in the competitive domain one is operating in and this toolkit will also help you to build a more robust future so that turbulence would not impact you to the same extent in the future. He said that during periods of turbulence, the uncertainty in the business environment would be at the highest level and only those who are equipped to measure the degree of certainty on the run in real life situations, will be able to measure this degree of uncertainty and take prompt action to reverse the trends of uncertainty.

It is this quality of people which will help organizations the most in building the robust future everybody dreams of, he said.
