NCCSL celebrates 60th anniversary
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) celebrated its
60th anniversary and the 50th Annual General Meeting at the Hotel
Galadari.

Guest of Honour, Kiyosh Araki, Japan’s Ambassador in Sri Lanka. |
Prof. G. L. Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International
Trade was the Chief Guest and Kiyoshi Araki, Japan’s Ambassador in Sri
Lanka was the Guest of Honour.
The NCCSL was founded in 1948 and the first AGM was held in 1958. The
Chamber also launched its upgraded website with trade and business
information.
Through its website www.nccsl.lk information such as member
businesses, trade and investment opportunities and government policies
on trade, multilateral trade agreements or any other information needed
by the business community could be obtained. The NCCSL website has links
to many other important websites.
At the 50th AGM, Lal de Alwis, Chairman of CAL Exports Ltd. who has
been a prominent businessman in the country for more than 40 years took
over the Chamber Presidency from D. Eassuweren, Chairman of Eswaran
Brothers Exports (Pvt) Ltd. Lal de Alwis became the 26th President of
the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The following
office-bearers were unanimously elected to the Council.

Ltd, Asoka Hettigoda, Deputy President, Managing Director, Hettigoda
Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Sunil Wijesinha, Deputy President, Chairman of
