'Landslide victory for UPFA inevitable'

Former UNP stalwart and top businessman Dr. MJMCS Zurfick yesterday
said the Muslims in the North Western Province are prepared to vote for
the United People's Freedom Alliance in reciprocation to the
Government's endeavour to eliminate terrorism.
According to Zurfick, a landslide victory is inevitable for the
Government at the upcoming Provincial Council Election as the over
100,000 of Muslims are with the Government.
"The Muslim community had been suffering tremendous hardships and
obstacles under the UNP regime. It was President Mahinda Rajapaksa who
came forward to help them.
Dr. Zurfick said the President always stood for the Muslims when they
are in trouble either in the Middle East, Palestine or elsewhere.
"Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and
Provincial Council candidate Chandana Yapa have launched massive
development projects in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts. These
projects have helped alleviate problems with regard to water,
electricity etc.
He said the Government has planned to set up an industrial zone in
the Kurunegala district for housemaids coming from the Middle East. "We
should create an environment in which our expatriate workers in the
Middle East specially women could do jobs locally and lead a happy life
with their siblings.
Over 10,000 UNPers from the Akurana electorate which was considered
as a stronghold of late UNP stalwart ACS Hameed joined the Government.
The Opposition has no future as the leadership is engaged in the
protection of corrupt politicians in the Party. |
