Canada supports Co-Chairs' call
Canada supports the Tokyo Co-Chairs' call for the LTTE to discuss
with the Government the terms of ending hostilities, including the
renunciation of violence, the laying down of arms and the acceptance of
the Government's amnesty as a first step towards political dialogue that
could contribute to peace, said Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister
Lawrence Cannon in a statement issued on February 4.
Canada also called for an immediate ceasefire to allow evacuation of
the sick and the wounded and to deliver humanitarian assistance. |
