The youth of the Eastern Province re-awakened

The youth of the Eastern Province are now reawakened after being
concealed for 20 years, as a result of the on going war for peace and
got back their rights to create a life they always dreamed of.
“We are Sri Lankans and we need to live in one country as Sinhala,
Tamil or Muslim without any indifference and equal facilities”,
Batticoloa Mayor Shivageetha Prabagaran said at an awards ceremony
organised by the National Youth Awards Authority held at Batticaloa
recently.
We have planned to empower the youth in every manner possible and
handover the country.
The Duke Edinborough International Awards Program is a worldly
accepted that trains youth to face any challenge that comes their way.
This awards program was introduced to the tsunami and war victims in
refugee camps. “This is a well drafted program to develop the activities
of the youth”, National Youth Awards Authority Chairman Senarath
Kahandaliyanage said.
Over 250 youth from the tsunami and war refugee camps were awarded
with bronze medals at the ceremony.
