Damage to Kotte MC :
Four remanded till February 5
Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council UNP Opposition Leader
Suraj Anthony Perera Jayasuriya and three other UNP members Chinthaka
Udayashantha, Chandima Nanayakkara and Ranil Saman were yesterday
further remanded till February 5 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Kumari
Abeyratne.
They were earlier produced by the Welikada police in connection with
damaging the Kotte Municipal Council Security Guardroom.
Chief Inspector Neville Silva, OIC Welikada Police, producing the
suspects, submitting a report to Court earlier, said the four suspects
surrendered to Police.
The suspects were produced before Court in connection with the attack
on the Kotte Municipal Council Security Guardroom and damaging glasses
of the guardroom valued over Rs. 51,000, the Welikada OIC said.
The suspects were produced before Court under the Public Property
Act, the Welikada OIC submitted to Court.
The Magistrate directed Police to submit a comprehensive report in
connection with the damage caused to the security unit on the next date.
Inspector Roshan Dias appeared with the Welikada Police OIC for the
prosecution.
Senior Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetty with Aruna Nishantha, Methsiri
Paranavitharana, Gunaratne Wanninayake, Nisadha Gamage, U. L. G. Bandara,
Namal Perera, M. Hewawitharana, Bandara Ekanayake, Priyaranjan
Ranasinghe and Rohitha Rajapaksa appeared for the four suspects. SM |
