Ecolanka Villa to invest Rs 5m on luxury cottages
Ecolanka Holiday Villa Maussawa, Hatton will invest Rs. 5 million to
introduce luxury cottages to the property.

The Joint Managing Director, Shirley Abeygoonewardane based in Paris
said that there is a new tourism trend developing in France for Eco
holidays and they want to capture this market.
“We have six deluxe rooms and want to add the luxury villa concept to
attract high end clientele,” he said. The new villas would be
two-storied in a hexagon shape and built using eco friendly building
material. Construction work on the Villas has already commenced and will
be ready for the next winter season. He said that in addition to the
French market they are also promoting the property in Britain and
Sweden.

“The hotel is also a venue for honeymooners and several overseas
weddings too were hosted at the venue.” ‘Forest Garden Product’, the
label for the analog forest has certified Ecolanka. It also takes part
in the local sustainable development. He said that a colonial bungalow
was converted into an Eco Lanka Holiday Villa and they invested more
than Rs. 2 million to refurbish the property. “We are now opening the
property to the local corporate sector,” he said. Ecolanka, also
organizes excursions to several historic Buddhist temples in Matagama
Pusulpitiya, waterfalls of Holy Light, World’s End, the Temple of the
Tooth in Kandy, the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, Adam’s Peak and
