YMSC celebrates 40th anniversary

One time kings of football in the Kalutara District and Popular
soccer club Young Men’s Sports Club Dharga Town will celebrate its 40th
anniversary on January 16, 17 and 18 at Zahira College ground Dharga
Town.
Its president Al-Haj A.R.M. Badiudeen introduced five A’ side soccer
in the Sri Lanka in 1982. In the early seventies (Particularly in
1970-71-72) YMSC was the best soccer team in the Kalutara District.
It has won many tournaments at regional level and fared well at
national level. It was the first team from Kalutara District and
Southern Province to enter the quarter finals in the FA Cup tournament.
It is also a founder member of the Beruwela Football League. To mark
the occasion an invitation seven A’ side soccer tournament for the
sixteen clubs in the Beruwela Football League will be held starting at
3.30 p.m. on the 16th instant and continued on the 17 and 18 instant
morning and afternoon.
In addition there will be an exhibition soccer match between YMSC and
Java Lane SC (Colombo) on the 17 instant afternoon and on the 18 instant
after YMSC master’s over forty team will play against Old Zahirians SC
(Colombo) over forty team. YMSC led by Al-Haj Badiudeen popular known as
Badhy Haji, from its inception.
The following teams have consented to play in the tourney. YMSC,
Zavia SC, Super Sun SC, Berbaryn SC, Golden Rise SC, Super Moon SC,
United SC, Dharga York SC, Light House SC, Super Stars SC, Golden Stars
SC, Liverpool SC, Somersets Great Stars SC, Chelsea SC and YMSC (Green).
