No foreign polls monitors

The Elections Depa-rtment said no international group is allowed to monitor the North Western and Central Provincial election to be held on February 14.

According to Elections Department sources, only PAFFEREL and CMEV have free access to polling stations.

These independent local observer groups have been permitted to monitor the entire process at polling stations and outside.

The Department has not granted permission to other groups - CAFE, Widwath Sansadaya and Human Development Organisations to enter the polling stations and monitor the polling. A department source said no major incidents of violation of election laws has been reported from the two provinces.
