Vidyalians well placed

Moratu Maha Vidyalaya is in a strong position at the end of day one in their inter-school under-19 cricket tournament match against Gurukula Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya which began at Moratuwa.

Visitors batting first were shot out for 95 runs with Asanka Silva being the chief wrecker with 7 for 34 runs. In reply, Vidyalians made 178 runs with Chathura Peiris 65 and Janidu Devinda 48 runs. When the stumps were drawn visitors were 56 for 4 in their scored essay.

Gurukula - 95 (G. Sankapala 24, D. Weerasinghe 26, Asanka Silva 7/34, Chathura Vithana 2/26) and 56/4 (D. Weerasinghe 21 n.o., A. Silva 2/19, Lasitha Mendis 2/18).
