Ragama go down fighting to Colts

Two splendid centuries from Sameera Soysa (104) and Duminda Perera (135) almost gave Ragama CC a first innings victory as they went down fighting to Colts CC in a key SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Chasing a mammoth total of 448 runs, Ragama CC put up a tremendous batting performance before falling short by 48 runs after Sameera Soysa and Duminda Perera had a put on a superb 204 runs for the fifth wicket.

Sameera Soysa stroked 16 boundaries for his 104 while Duminda Perera hit a top score of 135 inclusive of two sixes and a dozen of boundaries.

Colts CC: 448 and 149 for 5 (I. Muthalip 30, R. Weerasinghe 26 n.o, T. Perera 64, U. Indrasiri 4 for 65)

Ragama CC: 400 (S. Soysa 104, D. Perera 135, H Wickremaratne 37, K. Weeraratne 30, R. Perera 2 for 89, T. Perera 4 for 39, S. Weerakoon 2 for 83, D. Perera 2 for 61).

Baduraliya in outright win

Middle order batsman Rasika Priyadarshana hit a fighting half century to help Baduraliya CC beat Sri Lanka Army SC outright by four wickets in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Army SC: 140 and 155

Baduraliya CC: 160 and 137 for 6 (R. Priyadarshana 66, D. Gunawardena 27, N. Ratnayake 3 for 43, S. Prasanna 2 for 56)

Chilaw Marians fall short

All rounder Gayan Wijekoon took a match bag of eight wickets as Chilaw Marians SC fell short by just three wickets from pulling off an outright victory over NCC in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC: 255 and 204 (J. Gunaratne 44, G. Wijekoon 38, D. Perera 32, M. Siriwardena 24, K. Kulasekera 3 for 42, C. Komasaru 2 for 50, T. Kottahewa 2 for 50)

NCC: 238 and 104 for 7 (D. Mapa 23, C. Wijesinghe 21, G. Wijekoon 4 for 37, C. Perera 2 for 11)

First innings win for SSC

The defending champions SSC had to be content with first innings points over CCC in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

CCC: 201 and 293 (S. Pathirana 83, B. Perera 39, D. Ranaweera 20, C. Sylvester 21, J. Mendis 37, N. Randhika 32, C. Vidanapathirana 27, C. Gunasinghe 2 for 36, K. Lokuarachchi 2 for 46, T. Paranavithana 2 for 3, S. Senanayake 2 for 100)

SSC: 248 and 180 for 6 (T. Paranavithana 32, N. Perera 55, K. Silva 44 n.o, J. Sriyapala 35 n.o, N. Perera 3 for 43).

Tamil Union triumph

Tamil Union put up a fine all round performance to beat Moors SC on the first innings in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Tamil Union: 325 and 239 for 5 (S. Fernando 52, A. Priyanjan 26, G. Rupasinghe 28, L. de Silva 68 n.o, C. Mudalige 2 for 70).

Moors SC: 280 (D. Sudarshana 61, N. Nawala 33, W. Fernando 25, D. Lokuhettige 35, A. Rideegammanagedera 49 n.o, M. Warnapura 2 for 53, J. Mendis 2 for 34, M. Surappulige 2 for 65, I. Udana 2 for 36).
