President Mahinda Rajapaksa unveiled the Thurstan College Armed Forces and Police War Heroes Monument at Thurstan College, Colombo, yesterday in a colourful ceremony, amidst a distinguished gathering of old boys, friends and well-wishers of the school. The Thurstan College War Heroes Magazine was also presented to the President by Principal Wimal Gunarathna. The handing over of the replica key of Thurstan College Sports Pavilion to President Rajapaksa by a distinguished old boy of the college, Deshamanya Kumar Devapura, was another important event at this ceremony. The high powered Sri Lankan delegation from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to meet top officials from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and that National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) today for a collaborative effort to implement derivative initiatives in Sri Lanka.
