Heroic forces have broken back of LTTE

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva addressing a election Jana Hamuwa at Hiriyala, Kurunegala said the heroic soldiers of Sri Lanka have broken the backbone of the LTTE when not only the international community but war experts had considered it an impossibility.

He said the LTTE has destroyed the country's economy, much valued human resources, political leaders and security forces personnel for over three decades. Minister Silva expressed his dismay and disappointment over a statement made by the Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremesinghe to the effect that the Government must reduce the price of petrol now that Kilinochchi has fallen to the security forces.

He said Wickremesinghe is demanding an immediate price reduction of petrol because the security forces have conquered the main LTTE bastion of Kilinochchi.

This is not the kind of reaction the country expects from a responsible politician.

He is trying to fish in troubled waters instead of offering his support to the Government. It is unfortunate that we have leaders like him.
