Minister intervenes to end protest by people in Laggala

The agitation launched by the farmer community opposite the Laggala-Pallegama Divisional Secretariat demanding adequate compensation and lands to those who would be dehoused due to the proposed Moragahakanda-Kaluganga Scheme, renovations to the stretch of road between Pallegama and Hettipola on the Matale-Hettipola main road and a new building for Laggala-Pallegama Central College ended peacefully due to the intervention of Urban Development Minister, Rohana Dissanayake.

The Minister who contacted Minister Maithripala Sirisena on the spot arranged with him to hold a discussion to provide relief to the aggrieved parties. He also assured the agitators that the other outstanding matters, would be attended to, shortly.
