Voice of the Tamils that rises against the LTTE

“Don’t support the LTTE terrorists, let Sri Lankan Tamils live in peace and harmony”. This is the sincere call from the Tamils in the North and East. Even the very Tiger cadres who flee from LTTE clutches in the midst of the ongoing battle there, make the very request to surrender to the Army.

Thus they request their fellow Tamils to save their lives from those cruel tigers, thereby exposing the true nature of this tiger movement to the entire world. This way they drive home the fact that the LTTE’s defeat is imminent at this crucial movement.”

At this moment they consider Prabhakaran not as a liberation leader, but as a terrorist who has ruined their future by forcing them to face unfortunate circumstances for the past three decades. At a time when security forces successfully march forward in battles in the North, it is the innocent Tamils from the North and East who are more satisfied and overjoyed than the people in the South.

This is entirely because of the fact that these Tamils don’t want to witness any further unpleasant features of terrorism which they had experienced earlier. They don’t want to see this cruel war that has taken precious human lives as victims.

They only want a peaceful society!. They support the forces that are engaged in bringing about this humanitarian task. Ordinary people, too, defy the Tigers and come down to government held areas in large numbers.

Agitation against LTTE in Jaffna

There was a mass protest campaign against LTTE atrocities on Tamils and on human killings done by them in Jaffna town on December 21. Jaffna reports said that nearby 16,000 Tamil civilians from Jaffna attended this protest campaign.

Here these protestors have made the clarion call to allow the tamils to live in peace and harmony and also to release the besieged Vanni people who are presently held as shields in the battle front there.

They also vehemently condemned the LTTE Leader Prabakaran for remaining secure at the expense of innocent Tamils. They also emphasized the fact that they no longer condoned the hardships and the damages caused by Prabakaran on Sri Lankan Tamils.

At the moment that marks the end of a three decade old terrorism, what this socalled leader of the Tamils has bequeathed upon them is nothing but tears and sad memories. At every nook and corner, there are cemeteries. He has erected nothing else that benefits the Tamils there. They also condemn him as one who ruined the education of their children who form the backbone of the community.

They also carried placards there to urge the Tamil expatriates in foreign lands not to support the LTTE movement.

Those placards also conveyed the fact that the international media failed to project the true position of SriLankan Tamils and they are, in fact, not what the cohorts of Prabhakaran attempt to portray.

They also alleged that certain media at the behest of LTTE movement failed to portray the true situation of Sir Lankan Tamils to the world. They hold the strong view that Prabhakaran is solely responsible for all their problems.

This peaceful march began its journey at Kaithady and ended up as strong agitational campaign at Chavakachcheri in Jaffna.

Two Tiger cadres seek refuge in Army

Many LTTE combatants who were fed up with the cruel deeds of the movement took refuge in the Army during the humanitarian operation conducted in the East. This situation is still the same in the North. During the ongoing successful military operation in the North, too, this scenario has been witnessed recently. Two such hardcore Tiger terrorists who fled this own area and took refuge in the Army STF at Nagathuwan Jetty on December 18.

They are males and aged 28 and 33 respectively. Those two have alleged that the LTTE forcibly conscripted them, trained them and dispatched to operations in Pallai area.

In the mid battle, they fled the scene and reached Pooneryn after crossing Kilali lagoon to get to STF detachment at Nagattuwanthurai, they claimed.

The stray of a female LTTE major

Major Nadaraja Rajeswari, a Sea Tiger says that the LTTE’s frantic effort to save Kilinochchi-Mullative strongholds is a futile exercise. In these circumstances, she has called upon her colleagues to save their precious lives by surrendering to the forces with their weapons.

This female major, had been with the top ranks of the LTTE for nearly 10 years. It is this kind of a female Tiger leader who has called upon the child soldiers who she had once nurtured, to surrender.

This sea Tiger born in 1982 at Ramanadapuran, Kilinochchi, had served as a major attached to Sekkuvil section of the female sea Tiger unit. She has lost her father but her mother is alive. In 1998 she was conscripted and had undergone training in the use of firearms at Muttayankathi area. She had also been in charge of the Tiger training camp at Wemmanthai, Among the trainees there, she claims, there had been child soldiers as well.

They, as a group, lay in ambush at Kumalamunai area to launch an attack on the army which retaliated, leaving her badly wounded. The Army captured her, nursed her wounds and saved her life. She recalls with agony the last words of her colleagues who left her saying to look after herself or find her own safety if possible. She is also highly grateful to the Army for the pain they have taken to bring her back to life.

In the past, she had been involved in various capacities such as training of LTTE soldiers, and assisting in battles under direct orders from Prabhakaran, Balraj, Karuna, Pillayard and Soosai.

This colourful female character, who rose to height during her ten year stint, related to the Army the bitter experiences and hardships she had faced.

Civilians free themselves from Tiger Clutches

Civilians whom the LTTE has held back as shields against the Army offensive in the North, have begun to free themselves from the LTTE clutches and continue to enter the Government held areas in large numbers. They claim that they can no longer put up with the atrocities of the LTTE and have taken the great risk to flee the area. They too have requested their fellow beings who still languish there, to follow suit.

Today, LTTE’s facade stands exposed before the entire world - the very Tamils look at this movement with revulsion, contempt and disgust. They look at this entity not as a liberation movement, but as a terrorist outfit that brought about the destruction of the entire race.

Their only wish today has been that they will be able to live in peace in the newly found surroundings in the East where new development is in progress and also in the liberated North. They long for a better future for their children. Our valiant soldiers are well poised to ensure the aspirations of the people a reality very soon.

They fight their hard way to achieve this onerous task amidst incessant rain, heat and innumerable odds.
