Kandy Muslim leaders support President
An influential group of Muslim religious dignitaries, Muslim scholars
and Muslim Trade Associations from the Kandy district extended their
fullest support towards the programs initiated by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, for the welfare of the community.
This assurance was given by a group of Muslim religious leaders who
met the President at Temple Trees yesterday, a media release issued by
the President's Media Unit said.
The Muslim religious dignitaries told the President that they were
satisfied on the moves taken to provide solutions to a series of
problems faced by the Muslim community of the President.
The Muslim religious representatives during their discussion with the
President stressed on the importance of establishing a Muslim Boy's
school in Kandy which was a long felt need. The President told the
representatives that he would take immediate measures to fulfil this
request. The President further stated that steps would be taken to
further improve the educational standards of the Muslim community
countrywide. The Muslim representatives told the President that they
would extend their fullest support towards the initiatives taken by him
to combat terrorism and develop the country.
Deputy Tourism Minister Faizer Musthapa and a large number of Muslim
religious dignitaries and scholars participated on the occasion.
