NFF supports Govt's fight against terrorism - Weerawansa
Mohammed NAALIR
National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa yesterday said
that almost 50 per cent of the demands made by the JVP for extending
support to President Rajapaksa at the elections have already been
fulfilled.
"At a time our valiant Forces are forging a victory against
terrorism, the NFF is duty bound to back the Government with the
intention of a united Sri Lanka where Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims live
in unison protecting their ethnic identity, Weerawansa added.
Weerawansa was addressing the media at the party headquarters. He
said that there are certain local and international forces conspiring to
paralyse the military operation being carried out against the LTTE
terrorists with a view to protect Prabhakaran.
Weerawansa noted that eventhough they also demanded to reconsider the
CeaseFire Agreement, the Government annulled it considering its harms to
the nation.
He said that the Year 2009 will be the year for eliminating
terrorism. With the capturing of the remainder Mullaithivu and
Kilinochchi, terrorism will come to an end.
Certain mischievous elements were trying to economically topple the
Government.
Weerawansa expressed confidence that with the elimination of
terrorism all economic and political issues could be overcome.
Their primary reason for supporting the Government was restoring good
governance in Sri Lanka.
He also stressed the necessity of implementing a massive development
drive for the benefit of all.
He said there was no personal or political grounds for entering into
the agreement.
