Children among CP AIDS victims

The Sexually Transmitted Diseases Unit of the Kandy General Hospital reported that it has come across about 81 suspected HIV-AIDS victims.

Specialist of the Unit, Dr. Ganga Pathirana said five per cent of victims are children.

Statistics reveal that 14 are from Matale district, 60 from Kandy and seven from Nuwaraeliya.

A spokesman for the unit said anyone can have their blood checked for HIV free of charge and the AIDS Prevention Unit guarantees confidentially.
