Oracle announced the Oracle Accelerate Academy, a new training program that provides a learning curriculum and services to enable Oracle Partners to better market, sell and implement Oracle Accelerate solutions for midsize organizations. "Our partners need the latest tools and resources to help them grow their businesses," said Director, Worldwide Small and Midmarket Marketing, HP Urs Renggli. "The collaborative work of HP, Oracle and our channel partners has resulted in business solutions that help both our partners and midsized customers become more successful." Building on the recently announced Oracle Partner Enablement 2.0 strategy, the Oracle Accelerate Academy extends the new Oracle PartnerNetwork Boot Camp curriculum with information and courses specific to the Oracle Accelerate program. "This is a tremendous and focused effort to provide valued training and services for our partners in the midsize space," said Oracle Senior Vice President, Global Accelerate Program Office, Tony Kender. "We recognize that our partners have a unique advantage with Oracle Accelerate to sell and deliver Oracle solutions at volume levels while growing a profitable business. With better trained partners, midsize customers will benefit from complete, industry-specific solutions that are cost effective." Oracle Accelerate solutions for midsize organizations provide low-cost, pre-configured applications with a wide range of industry-specific functionality, allowing for rapid best-practice implementations and significantly reduced maintenance responsibilities. Currently, Oracle partners offer more than 200 Oracle Accelerate solutions, spanning 19 industries and 48 industry segments in 32 countries. With the establishment of the Oracle Accelerate Academy, Oracle further demonstrates its commitment to partner success by providing the information, training and resources they need to better identify customer needs and deliver complete midsize solutions. In addition to the new training program, Oracle has expanded its Oracle PartnerNetwork Knowledge Zones with a new enablement zone titled "Oracle Applications for Midsize Companies." The Oracle Accelerate Academy provides training and services that allow partners to increase their level of proficiency on selling, marketing and implementing Oracle solutions and, in turn, better meet customer needs and grow their businesses. Additionally, partners participating in Oracle Accelerate Academy will have the opportunity to apply their skills by engaging in joint marketing programs with Oracle and Oracle's Accelerate partners. Wal-Mart to start selling iPhones on SundayWal-Mart Stores Inc said on Friday it will start selling Apple Inc's iPhone on Sunday, but the popular cell phones that can surf the Web will not be priced as low as some anticipated. Wal-Mart plans to sell the black 8-gigabyte iPhone 3G model, which also holds about 2,000 songs, for $197. The 16-gigabyte model, in black or white, will be priced at $297. All of the phones require a new two-year service agreement from AT&T Inc or a qualified upgrade, Wal-Mart said. The move gives Apple the chance to reach millions of Wal-Mart shoppers who may not be as familiar with the company's products. Wal-Mart typically appeals to a lower-income group of shoppers than those who buy Apple's Macintosh computers, iPods and iPhones, which are typically more expensive that other PCs and music players.
