4,000 Santas claim world record
ROMANIA: Nearly 4,000 Santas set a new world record on Sunday as
Romania’s capital played host to the world’s biggest-ever Christmas
give-away.
Kids lined the streets of Bucharest to receive gifts from 3,939
people dressed as Father Christmas, easily surpassing the previous
record of 3,618 held by Taipei.
The bid, which was backed by city hall who provided the presents, was
certified by representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records.
After celebrating with carol singing and the sale of traditional
Christmas cake at its markets, Bucharest has a few more records to
attempt before the year ends the world’s longest sausage, and the
longest cake ever baked.
