Three in custody, timber and vehicle seized

Three men were apprehended by the police in the act of cutting trees in a forest.

A report from the vice squad of the police in Puttalam said that three men transporting timber prepared from Burutha, Palu and Karuvala trees allegedly cut in the Thabbova Sanctuary close to Karuvalagasweva off Puttalam were arrested on December 10.

According to the officials who arrested the three and seized the timber being pulled by a tractor with a trailer which the timber was they under taken to police custody.

Police are to produce the men, timber and vehicle before court after a preliminary inquiry.
