Differently-abled excels in K’galla arts and crafts festival

This is the first instance that such a large group of contestants won
a large number of prizes along with certificates. Several handicapped
artistes showed special aptitudes in their fields of contests at the
Kegalle district annual literary and arts festival.
Those handicapped contestants who won either the first, second or
third places were successful in obtaining a pension for themselves. In
the recently concluded literary and art and craft festival in Kegalle a
large number of participants succeeded in winning valuable prizes.
The literary festival was conducted in all three languages.Poetry and
prose, folklore, music and songs were included on a very competitive
basis and there were a lot of competitors for the open competitions
where both male and female of all age groups participated taking a keen
interest in all literary activities.
Over sixty contestants succeeded in obtaining the first, second or
their places in different fields of contests in English, Tamil and
Sinhala languages. In Sinhala media 27, in Tamil media 21 in the English
media 12 competitors succeeded in winning valuable prizes and
certificates.
