‘Govt spending lot of resources to crush terrorism’

The Government is spending a major share of resources to eradicate
the terrorism and not neglected the programmes for the uplift of remote
rural localities, said Highways Minister T.B. Ekanayake at Alawwa,
Dambadeniya.
He was addressing a meeting after the unveiling the commemorative
plaques of Maharachchimulla bridge at Dambadeniya built at a cost of Rs.
3 million under the Gama Neguma programme.
Minister Ekanayake said the Government will provide all facilities
for the war heroes’ families up to this moment the blood thirsty
terrorists have already been defeated and their defeat further confirmed
due to the Eastern Provincial Council elections.
He said the Government has done much for the welfare of villagers.
Millions of rupees were invested to provide infrastructure facilities
such as construction and restoration of highways, construction of
bridges, providing school buildings and hospitals etc.
The Minister said that people in rural areas have a great faith on
the Government. On the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa,
Mahinda Chintana focuses on the rural villages by linking them with main
roads and burgeoning towns so as to make the lives of the villagers
comfortable.

Bandara, Alawwa PS Chairman Sumith Rajapaksa, Alawwa Divisional
Secretary Wajira Kamburugamuwa also spoke.
