Fish aplenty during festive season

Adequate stocks of fish would be made available to all regional
centres of the Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (CFC) during the festive
season.
The CFC has made elaborate arrangements to dispatch adequate stocks
to meet the demand of customers at regional level.
Commenting on the scarcity of fish in the market during this season
due to the prevailing bad weather conditions, a CFC official said the
Corporation has engaged a mobile fleet to meet the demand in predominant
Christian areas.
A kilogram of tuna fish will be sold at Rs 350 through all regional
stalls and mobile stalls of the CFC during Christmas and New Year.
Extensive stocks are available at the Modera CFC main stores for
wholesale dealers, the official explained.
'However, prices of prawns, crabs and lobsters are fairly high as
usual due to the demand by tourist hotels, especially during the
Christmas and New year season," the official added.
