Seylan Bank - Mercantile badminton champions

Seylan Bank clinched the overall championship in the 26th Mercantile
Annual Team Championship which was conducted by Sri Lanka Badminton
Association worked off at St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia Badminton
Courts on Sunday. The second place went to Hatton National Bank and the
3rd place was won by Sri Lankan Airlines. Niluka Karunarathne (Seylan
Bank) and Chandrika de Silva also from Seylan Bank were selected as the
Best Players of A Division Tournament.
More than 900 players from 150 teams (50 Mercantile firms)
participated this 26th Annual Mercantile Badminton Team Championship.
This was the tournament with the highest number of participants for the
last 25 years. The chief guest on this occasion was Gerald de Saram, the
Managing Director of CIC Paints.
