Govt taking action to bring back Lankans stranded in Bangkok -

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hussein A. Bhaila yesterday told
Parliament that Sri Lankan Ambassador in Thailand Prof. J. B.
Dissanayake had been instructed to issue passports to Sri Lankans who
have been stranded in Bangkok, Thailand to bring them back to the
country via Malaysia.
The Deputy Minister further stated if it is necessary the Government
will provide visas to them.
“No one is permitted to enter the Airport. Sri Lankan Ambassador in
Thailand Prof. Dissanayake had visited each hotel and found details of
regarding these people.
The Deputy Minister was replying to a question by UNP MP Lakshman
Kiriella.
MP Kiriella was asking the Government, what sort of action it has
taken to bring back these Sri Lankans to the country as their bags,
documents and passports have been stuck due to the closure of the
Airport.”
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the names
of Sri Lankans who have been stranded in Thailand should be collected.
They are helpless.
