ACMC will continue to support Govt - Minister Bathiyutheen

Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister and All Ceylon Muslim Congress (ACMC) Leader Risath Bathiyutheen said the party is prepared to contest all elections including Local Government elections in the future.

He said the final decision whether to contest alone or with the Government will be decided by the Party's Supreme Council. Addressing the media in Colombo Minister Bathiyutheen said the Supreme Council has unanimously decided to support the Government at the Provincial Council Elections. All activities of the party will be based on the recommendations of the Supreme Council.

Disaster Relief Services Minister M.S.S. Ameer Ali has been elected the Chairman of the Party while Cooperatives Minister Najeeb A Majeed, Y.LS. Hameed, Eastern Province Health Minister M.L.A.M. Hisbullah, Deputy Foreign Minister Hussain Bahila, N.M. Saheed and S.A. Nijamudeen were elected Deputy Leader, Secretary General, National Organisor, Deputy Leader, Senior Deputy Leader and National Propaganda Secretary respectively.

In the Eastern Provincial Council Election, the party sent three members to the Eastern Provincial Council while capturing Puttalam and Oddamawadi Pradeshiya Sabhas.

It has sent members to Thambalagamuwa Prades- hiya Sabha in the Trincomalee District. The prime reason to formulate the party was to fulfill the aspirations of the Muslim Community while building an intimate relationship with the Tamils and Sinhalese.

Eastern Province Health Minister M.L.A.M. Hisbullah reiterated the necessity of the Muslims to unite to win their privileges.

He said the ACMC is striving to bridge the gap between Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim communities in the Eastern Province.
