Severe action against Tiger supporters, warns TNCC
Nagercoil (TN): Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K V
Thangkabalu on Sunday reiterated his stand that those supporting the
banned LTTE which had assassinated former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi
would have to face severe action as per law.
The Sri Lankan Tamils problem could be solved only through
implementation of the Rajiv Gandhi-Jayawardene accord, he added.
The Congress led UPA Government at the Centre would protect the
rights of Tamil Nadu in disputes over sharing waters of Cauvery and
Neyyar with Karnataka and Kerala respectively, he said.
Talking to reporters here, he said Kerala government's reported
demand for payment for supply of water to Tamil Nadu from Neyyar was
condemnable.
Welcoming the PMK's stand to continue its alliance with the Congress
for the Lok Sabha elections, he said party chief Sonia Gandhi would take
a decision on the alliance with other parties after the announcement of
the poll schedule.
