LMD announces ‘Sri Lankan of the Year’ tonight

LMD will announce its ‘Sri Lankan of The Year’ at a low-key event this evening.

A spokeswoman for the pioneering journal explains that LMD’s publisher Media Services has opted for a scaled-down event this year because of the “country situation”.

“We feel that it’s inappropriate to throw a big party at a time when our troops are risking their lives in the north. and in addition, our Board of Management says that we should be tightening our belts in readiness for the worldwide economic downturn.,” she says.
