Clergy bless Sarvodaya
Religious dignitaries from all religions gathered at the BMICH on
November 25 to bless the forward plan - from 50 years to the dawn of the
next century" that Sarvodaya had drawn on the occasion of the 50th
Anniversary celebration.
They all gathered to honour the members of the clergy belonging to
all religions from all over the country who actively participated in
attempting to bring all the ethnic and religious communities and usher
in a society of peace and harmony. Thirty two of them from the North
East and the South were presented with awards of appreciation.
Sarvodaya Shanti Sena that implemented the project with the
assistance of Norwegian Church Aid which provided a platform for the
clergy during the last 5 years were profusely praised for their effort.
NCA was presented an award for their dedication and sponsorship.
Dr. Bellanwila Nayake Thera who spoke on behalf of the Buddhists
stressed the fact that the political at present worked towards their own
party members rather than the Nation needed a national leadership which
was provided by Sarvodaya. Aggamahapandita Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa, Ven.
Karukkal Kuhananda Shrarma, Ven. Niaz Moulavi and Rev. Christanta Mendis
also spoke on behalf of Hindu, Muslim and Christian faiths.
They made very eloquent speeches that kept the audience spell bound.

Maduluwawe Sobhitha, Ven. Diviyagaha Yasassi, Bishop of Anuradhapura Rt.
Rev. Norbert Andrandi, Bishop Kenneth Fernando, Moulavi Dr. Hajjiar
