Venison poacher hunted
Indika Polkotuwa
A person suspected to have hunted in the Knuckle's wildlife reserve
was taken into custody by the Rattota Police with venison, deer-hyde and
several firearms, it is reported. Later the police were able to recover
two trap-guns, a 12 bore gun and 50 spent cartridges and a large stock
of venison, after raiding the suspect's house at Thibbotukanata,
Gammaduwa.
Police investigations have revealed that the hunting of a rare kind
of deer in the Knuckle's area had been going on for sometime by
poachers.
Meanwhile police suspects the involvement of the suspect in a number
of crimes committed in the area, including three persons getting injured
by trap-guns.
Rattota Police are conducting further investigations. |
