President condoles death of former Maldivian President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has hailed the contribution of the founder President of the Republic of Maldives, Ibrahim Nasir who passed away recently.

President Rajapaksa in a message of condolence to his Maldivian counterpart, President Mohamed Nasheed, has recalled former President Nasir's contribution to the development of the Maldives, in particular tourism and fisheries, which has been widely recognised.

President Rajapaksa, while expressing the profound sympathy of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, has requested President Nasheed to convey his sincere condolences to the members of the family of the late former President Nasir, on his demise.
