Mangala's statement on Army Chief condemned

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha yesterday vehemently condemned the statement made by MP Mangala Samaraweera regarding the Army Commander at the Defence Watch press conference.

The Minister said Mangala Samaraweera has stated that the Army Commander is not suitable even to lead the Salvation Army.

The entire country condemns this irresponsible statement made by Samaraweera.

"Once our Armed Forces liberate the entire Northern Province, Samaraweera will have to praise the Army Commander," the Minister added.

"Under the great leadership of the Army Commander, we have been able to liberate the Eastern Province and Pooneryn as well. Therefore, there is no validity in this statement made by the MP.

"The Government will able to restore peace and democracy in Kilinochchi and the entire Northern Province very soon," he remarked.
