Cowardly acts of terrorism - PM
Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka condeming the terrorist
attacks in India, said these attacks on innocent civilians and public
properties can only be interpreted as cowardly acts of terrorism.
The Prime Minister condemning the brutal and uncivilised terrorist
attacks across the city of Mumbai, India that killed and injured
hundreds of innocent civilians, expressed deepest sympathies to the
bereaved families and hoped that the injured would make a speedy
recovery.
Those vicious attacks on innocent civilians and public properties can
only be interpreted as cowardly acts of terrorism.
The menace of terrorism has created great havoc in societies
globally, thus requiring it to be addressed urgently and effectively
through regional and international co-operation, he said.
The Premier said: "My country, Sri Lanka has been affected severely
by such acts of terrorism instigated and manifested by a group of
terrorists namely, The LTTE. Our Government is determined to defeat LTTE
terrorism and restore normality in the affected areas. We acknowledge
with appreciation the firm support and co-operation extended by our
friendly nations in this process.
While condemning those uncivilised attacks in Mumbai city of India, I
wish to state that we stand firmly with the Government and people of
India in their efforts to confront this unexpected situation and
eradicate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations." |
