Chilaw Marians in stunning win over Army

In a dramatic turn of events Chilaw Marians SC came from behind with
a remarkable performance to beat Sri Lanka Army Sports Club by one
wicket in a thrilling SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match
concluded at the FTZ grounds in Katunayake yesterday.
Chilaw Marians SC chasing a victory target of 70 runs slumped to 50
for 9 at one stage before the last pair of Chinthaka Perera (19 n.o) and
Ishan Silva (4 n.o) guided them home safely with an unfinished
partnership of 20 runs.
Earlier Army SC playing their first match in the tournament took a
close first innings lead of 12 runs by dismissing their opponents for
217.
However the Army SC batsmen squandered a good opportunity as they
collapsed to 58 runs in their second innings with Gayan Wijekoon (6 for
23) and Dinuk Hettiarachchi (4 for 24) causing most of the damage.
Army SC: 229 and 58 (G. Wijekoon 6 for 23, D. Hettiarachi 4 for 24).
Chilaw Marians SC: 217 (J. Gunaratne 39, S. Prasanna 4 for 77, N.

Kaushalya (6/47) bowls Ragama to victory
All rounder Kaushalya Weeraratne returned excellent figures of six
wickets for 47 as Ragama CC trounced giant killers Baduraliya CC
outright by an innings and 37 runs in their SLC Premier League Tier A
tournament match concluded at Braybrooke Place yesterday.
Badualiya CC following on were dismissed for 194 in their second
innings with Pradeep Jayaprakash stroking an unbeaten half century.

Colts CC force a draw
Two fighting half centuries from Dhanuka Pathirana (75) and Ishan
Muthalip (64) helped Colts CC force a draw to their SLC Premier League
Tier A tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.
Colts CC who had already conceded first innings points produced an
improved batting performance in their second innings to reach 197 for 4
after been asked to follow on. SSC: 378
Colts CC: 164 and 197 for 4 (I. Muthalip 64, D. Pathirana 75, R.
Silva 32).
Bathiya and Nisal help CCC
Bathiya Perera and Nisal Randhika completed half centuries to help
CCC force a draw to their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match
against NCC concluded at Maitland Crescent yesterday.
However NCC had the satisfaction of taking first innings points
having dismissed their opponents for 158 runs. CCC: 158 and 232 for 5
(N. Randhika 50 n.o, B. Perera 53, T. Kottahewa 2 for 34, C. Komasaru 2
for 50).

Bloomfield on a scoring spree
Bloomfield went on a scoring spree as they piled up the highest total
this season which helped them to take easy first innings points over
Tamil Union in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match
concluded at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.
Shanuka Dissanayake missed out a century by eight runs while Chamara
Silva and Prasanna Jayawardena completed superb fifties after
Tillekeratne Dilshan had made a top score of 112. Tamil Union: 299 and
32 for no loss. Bloomfield: 573 (P. Jayawardena 58, C. Silva 61, S.

Saracens in first innings win
Saracens SC had to be content with a first innings victory over
Sebastianites SC in their SLC Premier League Tier B tournament match
concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Police foiled by bad light
Bad light and rain prevented Sri Lanka Police SC from pulling off an
outright victory over Lankan CC in their SLC Premier League Tier B
tournament match concluded at the Police Park yesterday.
