Launch of Certified Professional Manager

The Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM), a professional body that offers a professional qualification and membership for those seeking a career progression in Management held their ceremonial launch recently at the BMICH amidst a large gathering of professionals and distinguished invitees.

ICPM is the result of a joint project initiated by Certified Management Accounts of Sri Lanka and All India Management Association (AIMA), India.

Over 800 successful applicants were conferred founder membership in Associate (ACPM), Member (MCPM) and Fellow Members (FCPM) categories that covered a wide range of professions such as Accountancy, Marketing, Management, Medical, Engineering, Architecture, Human Resources etc.,

Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara, mentioned that the formation of a Certified Professional Manager programme in Sri Lanka under an Institution sponsored by CMA Sri Lanka and All India Management Association signifies a landmark step towards professionalising the management qualification in Sri Lanka. He further stated that private sector should invest in grooming the young managers and make use of the CPM programme for education and training purposes.

Patrons of ICPM are Karu Jayasuriya Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Managing Director PIM International Centre, Dubai Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara and former chairman Seylan Bank. Edga Gunathunga.

Governing Council of ICPM comprise of Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala (President), H. A. Wehalle Secretary, Basheer Ismail Treasurer, former Chairman Brooke Bonds S. E. Satharasinghe, T. Someswaran former Senior Partner SJMS associate, Prema Cooray Secretary General Chamber of Commerce, Asoka Hettigoda MD Siddhalepa and Priyantha Seresinhe Group Director Capital Maharaja Ltd.

Advisory Council comprise Chairman Commercial Bank Mahendra J. C. Amarasuriya, Former Senior Partner KPMG FRT, Dr. G. C. B. Wijeyesinghe, Director Dialog Telecom Moksevi Prelis, Chairman Ceylon Tobacco Co. Jayampath Bandaranayake, Deputy Chairman Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Dr. Anura Ekanayake, Chairman National Chamber of Commerce D. Eassuwaran Chairman Jinasena Ltd. Eng. Dr. Nihal Jinasena.

The ceremonial launch of the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (CPM) was held recently at the BMICH. Over 600 members received Founder Membership at the function.
