Forces armed to fight 'Light Aircraft' syndrome - Minister
Rohan Mathes
Mass Media and Information Minister and Cabinet spokesman Anura
Priyadharshana Yapa asserted that he strongly believed that the Armed
Forces have now got into the right track of successfully combating the
LTTE's 'Light Aircraft' syndrome.
Replying to a query from a journalist at the weekly Cabinet press
briefing at the Government Information Department Auditorium at
Narahenpita yesterday, as to the failure of the Forces to attack the
so-called 'Light Aircraft' of the LTTE once again, Minister Yapa pointed
out that utilising light aircrafts for these tasks were highly unusual
in the world, and therefore overwhelming them completely was an arduous
task.
He reiterated however that the Forces have not failed. They have
destroyed one aircraft about a month ago. He said he was aware that the
Forces have done an extensive research on the matter.
They have now successfully ventured into the correct mode and
approach of having full control over such a situation in the future.
"Let's think positively," Minister Yapa added. |
