Buddhist talk

Ven. Doctor Bellanwila Wimalaratana Nayake Thera will deliver a public Buddhist talk in English on "Nibbana and a Patriotism" at a meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on Saturday November 1 at 4.30 p.m at Maitri Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.


Leaves for Japan

Construction and Engineering Services Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne left for Japan yesterday on an official tour. During this tour, the Minister will have discussions with several ministers including his counterpart in Japan. These talks will centre on seeking technical cooperation in the construction field along with procuring heavy machinery needed for Kalutara Urban Council.


Felicitation ceremony

A Felicitation dinner is organised to honour the members of the Moors' Islamic Cultural Home who have completed 50 years of membership of this Institution. This ceremony will be held at the MICH Reception Hall, "Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Building", No 7, Lily Avenue, Wellawatte, Colombo 6 on Wednesday December 31, at 7.00 p.m. The Official Website of the Moors Islamic Cultural Home would also be launched at this ceremony.


Seminar

A seminar will be held on November 1 from 10.20 a.m. to 12.30 p.m at No. 83, Mihindu Mawatha, Colombo 12. The seminar will focus on immigration law and practice and the recent changes in law and procedure in the United Kingdom and World Wide by Sarath Wijesinghe (LL.M.London International Law-Senior Solicitor England and Wales) (Chairperson SAARC Centre in the United Kingdom).


Hajj seminar

The Darul Iman Trust in collaboration with the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs will conduct a special Hajj seminar in Tamil on November 1 from 9 am to 3 pm at Al Higma Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 12.

Ash-Sheikh M. Navawi, Director, Department of Muslim Religious Cultural Affairs will be the chief guest. A complete practical guidance on Hajj, Umrah and Ziyarah using models, maps and modern audio visual systems will be used to provide a thorough knowledge and guidance for Hajj pilgrims. Members' Day

The 'Dehiwala Housewives Welfare Society, Members' Day will be held at 3.30 p.m. on Friday, October 31 at the St. Mary's Parish Hall, Dehiwala, with a cookery demonstration by Kithsiri Weerawardena.
