Academic activities affected by fire

A fire at the University of Visual and Performing Arts Kohuwala
premises last week has adversely affected the academic activities of the
University, said Student Union President Madhura Sri Kumara Babarendage
in a letter to the Higher Education Minister.
Babarendage in his letter says the first and second years of the
faculty of Drama and Dances of the University were being conducted at
the Kohuwala premises. But no academic activity was conducted at the
premises after the fire.
The Ministry has provided a place at Albert Crescent to conduct
academic activities. But he says the space is not adequate to
accommodate all students.
This situation has become worst after the enrolment of freshers on
October 21. The academic activities of the first and second year
students were suspended due to this situation. The examinations of first
year and second year students of Drama and Dances were suspended too. He
appealed to the Minister to give an opportunity to discuss the matters
soon.
