Child dies after swallowing jujubes

A two-year-old child in Kandy has died after choking on a piece of jujubes. Dumudu Vihagun of Dematagahadeniya, Katugastota died after he one of the jujubes he was eating got stuck in his throat.

The child's grandfather used to bring jujubes for him.

The child who experienced breathing difficulties after swallowing the jujubes was taken to the Katugastota hospital by his mother. But the child died on admission.

The Inquirer into Sudden Death has confirmed the death has been caused due to asphyxia.
