Dual track to Kalutara South from today

COLOMBO: A Rs.146 million new dual rail-track from Panadura to
Kalutara South and a new signal system installed at cost of Rs.50
million will be opened at the South Kalutara station at 9.30 a.m. today.
The second new railway bridge across the Kaluganga will also be
opened today, said a Transport Ministry spokesman. Construction work on
the dual rail track from Kalutara South to Aluthgama will commence
today. The estimated cost for this project would be around Rs.250
million.
This dual rail track is due to extend from Kalutara South to Payagala
under the first phase. The dual railway track from Panadura to Kalutara
South was constructed in two stages, the first from Panadura to Wadduwa
and the second from Wadduwa to the Kalutara South railway station.
