Effie Awards Sri Lanka blueprint drawn up
The final Blueprint of the Effie Awards was drawn up by the committee
headed by Thushantha Karunanayake who had the experience of being
involved with Chillies as well as ASLIM Awards previously.
Thushantha Karunanayake |
This experience was extremely handy in finalising the Blueprint as it
had various cultural issues and other advertising issues when compared
to the Global Effies. Using all his experience Karunanayake steered the
committee towards an acceptable solution agreeable to all parties
involved which were SLIM, 4A’s and American Marketing Association.
The Blueprint will be the master document which will guide SLIM in
all its activities with the Effie Awards including judging criteria,
appointment of judges, entry form and all other minute details.
This cannot be changed either by SLIM or anyone else this year.
Karunanayaka was ably supported by Lasantha Abeywickrema representing
the marketing fraternity and Rohan Rajratnam representing the
advertising fraternity.
Chair SLIM Sri Lanka Effies Wasantha Mallikarachchi, and Executive
Director SLIM Sri Lanka Effies Nimal Wirasekara also contributed in a
major way to draw up the Blueprint. President SLIM R M P Dayawansa was
delighted with the outcome of the Blueprint and said this should stand
the test of time and would be the bible for Effie Awards Sri Lanka for
years to come.
He was also thankful to 4A’s for the able support rendered specially
by Rohan Rajaratnam in finalising the Blueprint and Laila Martenstyn for
her support in the final stages of the Blueprint.
Dayawansa also was thankful to Past Presidents of SLIM and Past
Chairs of SLIM Awards, and also the 4A’s for laying a strong foundation
for the Effies to be built on. He also thanked Past President of SLIM
Wasantha Mllikarachchi and Executive Director SLIM for taking the
challenge of seeing the Effie Awards through to success.
Others in the Blueprint Committee are Laksiri Wickramage, Harsha De
Silva, Dr. Sarath Kodithuwakku and Thushara Perera representing
academics, media, as well as professionals.
